Parent Engagement
Parents learn the importance of supporting their child’s education through parent-child groups, personal visits, and developmental screenings.
Read and Play Story Times:
Parents learn the importance of supporting their child’s education through Read & Play groups.
While the benefits of high quality preschool programs are evident, many families are not able to access these services, either due to the limited number of subsidized slots or an inability to cover the cost themselves. In addition, raising young children can be a very isolating experience for today’s families who may not have additional support. This isolation can impact children’s growth and development. Group participation minimizes that isolation by fostering connections with other families, staff and with the school itself.
Weekly Read and Play Story Times are held at the school and are offered in partnership between the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District and ESD 112. Children and caregivers attending these groups gain valuable literacy and social skills as well as build positive relationships with the school staff.
Home visits:
Parents learn the importance of supporting their child’s education through personal visits.
All parents have questions about their children’s growth and development and all families benefit from help and support. Personal visits are designed to build on strengths as well as meet the unique needs of children and families where they feel most comfortable – at home. Highly trained staff provide parenting information, model appropriate interactions and help families connect with other resources.
