Early Head Start

Early Head Start (EHS) offers early, continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services on a year-round basis to pregnant women and families of infants and toddlers age birth to three years of age.

The purpose of the program is to enhance children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development; to support parents' efforts to fulfill their parental roles; and to help parents move toward self-sufficiency.

Families enrolled in EHS will participate in:

  • Planned weekly home visits
  • Parent-child play groups held throughout the year
  • Parent leadership opportunities
  • Child developmental screenings and referrals
  • Coordination of services to support physical health and development, mental health, social-emotional, cognitive and language development.
  • Individualized planning and services that meet the growing and changing needs of families with very young children.

 

Early Head Start provides comprehensive child and family development services for low-income pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers ages birth to three years.

ESD 112 partners with local school districts to offer EHS in the following school district neighborhoods:

  • Ocean Beach School District
  • Naselle-Grays River Valley School
  • South Bend School District
  • Vancouver School District in Washington, King, Roosevelt, and Harney Elementary School neighborhoods
  • Ridgefield School District
  • La Center School District
  • Battle Ground School District
